There is a parking garage at 5th and Walnut, adjacent to the venue. The skywalk is connected, if you'd like to stay warm.
There is street parking available around the Kirkwood. Meters will be on, and if you need quarters, we have 'em at the desk.
What are we?
Market Day produces an indie craft market every month between May and November. Our Black Friday event is the biggest of the year: more than 50 vendors bring their handmade and vintage goods, including housewares, paper goods, gift items, clothing, accessories, jewelry, art, food, and more to our holiday shopping extravaganza. Seriously, it's an extravaganza.
We are nice people.
Market Day wants you to buy local, support your community, and give your friends and family carefully made and selected gifts. We'll got you started with our makers and curators, and if you're still hungry for more local shopping goodness when you're done, we've also got information on our favorite local spots for further Black Friday shopping.
Black Friday is the mega-shopping-date the day after Thanksgiving, and it's the day many retailers "hit the black" for the year. The wash of money from throngs of Black Friday shoppers take shops and service providers into profitable territory
And we make really cool things (like pillows!)for the year. It's a big deal.
At Market Day you can

History, exciting plans, and volunteering
This Black Friday will cap the end of our fourth season -- that's 28 markets we've put on! Our Black Friday will draw more than 2500 shoppers to downtown Des Moines to get their buying on.
- We've got a great playlist all day long, and a live performance from DJ 8/10 from 10-1. Max Wellman is crooning Christmas faves from 2-4.
- The BAR is OPEN. Get your drink on, too.
- Gateway Church is bringing an Advent Conspiracy, selling stoves for El Salvador and providing gift wrap.
